At COTTAI, we believe that industrial progress and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. While growing our business in the global window covering industry, we are equally committed to reducing carbon emissions, minimizing operational waste, and adopting sustainable practices across every level of our operation.
What We’re Doing Now
- Installed solar panels with a total capacity of 49.77kW, generating over 60,000 kWh of electricity per year. This effort helps reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 36.09 metric tons annually, which is equivalent to the carbon absorption of 2,737 trees.
- According to our 2023 GHG inventory, we emitted 87.292 metric tons of greenhouse gases. The current solar generation translates to a 41.3% reduction, exceeding Taiwan's national 2030 carbon reduction goal of 30% (baseline year: 2005).
- Developed new products using eco-friendly and recyclable materials, including components that meet the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).
- Applied high-performance window films to our facility with up to 71% TSER (Total Solar Energy Rejected), enhancing energy efficiency and interior temperature control.
- Replaced fluorescent lights with LED lighting to reduce energy usage.
- Source ingredients and materials from local, nature-friendly farms, supporting small-scale agriculture and sustainable sourcing.
Next Steps Toward Sustainability
- ♻️ Redesign product packaging using compostable and recyclable materials, replacing traditional plastic bubble wrap.
- 🏷 Apply for ISO 14064-1 and ISO 14067 certifications to meet international carbon disclosure and CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) requirements.
- ⚡ Upgrade all electrical appliances to energy-efficient models to further reduce power consumption.
